The University of Nebraska-Lincoln chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon drove to the UPE Annual Convention which was held in conjunction with ACM's SIGCSE 2010 Technical Symposium on Education in Computing Sciences in Milwaukee, WI.
Since attending last year, the chapter has been working on transfering the New Student Enrollment Paper Notebook into an online-wiki format. The new notebook will be used coming this summer, and initial reactions are positive.
Students from the UNL chapter of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) Computer Science honor society drove to the UPE Annual Convention which was held in conjunction with ACM's SIGCSE 2009 Technical Symposium on Education in Computing Sciences in Chattanooga, TN. Attendees from UNL included all but one of the charter members of the chapter as well as professors Dr. Charles Riedesel and Dr. Leen- Kiat Soh.
Dr. Riedesel and Dr. Soh gave presentations related to their research, and the UPE members gave a brief presentation on the chapter's activities since its re-activation last November. This included a preview of their first project: construction of a novel interactive real-time map of classes in session in Avery Hall and the new Shorr Center, which is being designed for display on projectors in the Shorr Center. Also at SIGCSE were many exhibits by Microsoft Research, Google, Intel, and others; keynote addresses; panels; workshops; and much more.
