Upsilon Pi Epsilon's mission is to promote the Computer Sciences and to encourage its contribution to the enhancement of knowledge. Upsilon Pi Epsilon is an international Computer Science honorary society recognizing academic excellence in both undergraduates and graduates. Founded in 1967 at Texas A&M University, UPE has grown and prospered all over the world. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been involved with Upsilon Pi Epsilon since 1973, and was the Alpha chapter for Nebraska. Though UNL's chapter did go inactive for a few years, UNL's chapter was re-established in 2008.
